“REMEMBER WHAT GAME YOU’RE REALLY PLAYING!”

MEMO TO MYSELF ON THE FIRST DAY OF SOFTBALL SEASON:

  • Remember that you are sixty-seven.
  • Forget that you are sixty-seven.
  • Have fun!
  • Relax!
  • Focus!
  • Do what you can, not what you can’t.
  • You will make mistakes.
  • None of those mistakes will likely be fatal for you or for anyone else.
  • Don’t call yourself names—not even mentally.
  • Forgive everyone their mistakes.
  • Begin this forgiveness business with yourself.
  • Be kind to your team mates.
  • Be kind to the members of the other team.
  • Remember what game you are really playing—a game in which you experience the grace of God, and pass it along to others.

Come to think of it, this would be a good memo for all of your life, Down to Earth Believer!
